Originally from the sunny shores of Los Angeles, California, my life took me on my first trip away to Australia. What was meant to be a four month study abroad trip wound up being a decade away from home.
I did not expect to stay as long as I did but when I met an Aussie boy that stole my heart years ago, I left everything and everyone I loved in California to make the move to the land down under. Despite the many sacrifices I would have to make for that relationship, including my desire to travel the world, it was not meant to be. After seven years together and a short lived marriage, he broke my heart. The only thing that kept me going was the knowledge that I could now live out my dreams of travel that started years ago.
For years I had wanted to move to the UK and spend some time traversing across Europe but to make the move easier, I would need to get my Australian citizenship. It took me another two years to obtain it and another year to save up the funds to go. Just as I was starting to get excited about my fast approaching departure, the COVID-19 pandemic quickly shut the borders and shut the door on dreams that kept me going for three years.
